The economic environment of the present day construction industry has drastically changed from that of the past. Increased environmental regulations, government initiatives, and the ever increasing cost of construction (i.e. fuel costs, raw materials, etc…) has resulted in the need for more efficient, economical and environmentally friendly construction practices. As the cost of raw materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregate, fuel, etc..) continues to increase so does the cost of construction. Albuquerque Asphalt’s ability to adapt to these dynamic conditions by implementing value – engineering cost saving solutions has made our company one of the industry leaders in this market.

Efficiency and productivity requires not only a highly skilled work force, but also the latest in cutting-edge equipment. In 2013 AAI purchased a “Power-Curber” slip form curb and sidewalk pavement machine allowing our company the benefit of high quality concrete curb and flat work at high production rates, which ultimately decreases the total time needed to complete this work resulting in significant cost saving to our customer.

Our investment in the latest in state of the art equipment insures our clients they are getting the best possible products and service. New equipment such as oscillating rollers and vibratory pneumatic rollers has significantly reduced the impact traditional vibrating rollers have had on urban and residential locations.

Albuquerque Asphalt has invested heavily in recycled materials including introducing a new and innovative product to the market in New Mexico “foamed bituminous stabilized base” or Q-base (per the COA green initiative). Q-base has been demonstrated to be an effective alterative to the traditional asphalt over base course sections providing an equivalent structural coefficients of asphalt over base course typical sections and also providing a cost-savings value - engineering approach to many projects.

Foamed Bituminous Stabilized Base is a material generated using recycled materials (i.e. Recycled Asphalt Pavement “RAP” & Recycled Concrete “RCCP”). This process is not only environmentally efficient but is also mobile meaning the plant can be mobilized to any site our client has raw materials which can be utilized for production of foamed bituminous base. This material is currently being utilized by agencies such as NMDOT, Bernalillo County, City of Albuquerque, and many other municipalities in central New Mexico.
